Artists being recruited to help transform city of Flint through culture

The greater Flint Arts Council in partnership with the city of Flint was awarded a grant for 50-thousand dollars.

The "Our Town Grant" given through the National Endowment for the Arts -- allows the hiring of ten artist positions.

The individual will get paid about two-thousand dollars each.

All of the artists must be recruited from the nine wards of flint.

They will be asked to create something based on what they hear and see from their neighborhoods through master plan sessions.

Deadline for artists to apply is he grant is Thursday, January 31st.
