American Airlines and United Airways expected to annouce merger this morning

It is expected that later today American Airlines and US Airways will announce that they will merge and becomes the world's largest airline.

According to sources familiar with the deal, the boards of both companies approved the merger last night.

An official announcement is expected later this morning.

The new carrier would keep the American Airlines name.

American Airlines has flights out of Bishop International Airport in Flint to Chicago.

It is unclear if the local flights would be impacted by this merger.
