Vehicle theft is down in Michigan

The Michigan Automobile Theft Prevention Authority (ATPA) recently announced that auto thefts in Michigan have decreased 6.8 percent from 2010 to 2011.

Since ATPA began in 1986, auto theft overall has gone down over 65 percent.

Michigan's most stolen vehicle is the 2000 Dodge Caravan followed by the 2004 Chevrolet Impala.

Black is the favorite color of thieves, while July sees the most thefts.
