The U.S. Coast Guard is warning that warmer temperatures over the weekend have caused unsafe ice conditions.
Temperatures in the 40's mean that ice on lakes and rivers could be dangerously thin.
The Coast Guard warns that ice is always dangerous and unpredictable.
Anyone venturing out on the ice should take proper precautions, no matter the weather.
Petty Officer Ed Hines of the Coast Guard told NBC 25, "Once it warms up, it weakens the ice and we'll get cracks, cracks are no longer re-freezing, staying wet which means they'll expand and it's just not stable conditions."
The coast guard recommends never going out alone.
