GRAND BLANC -- Students at Grand Blanc City school are working to add a historical market to their building, which is known as Perry Place.

The Michigan Historical Commission granted permission for a marker to be placed outside of the school in June.

The kids say the effort has been worth it.

Fifth grader Stasia Butrie said, "We all thought that it is our responsibility to raise this money so we've been sending out letters, making speeches, and sending out emails for people to donate money for us."

The next step for students will be to raise $1900 to pay for the market.
