It was first built in the mid 60's so MBS Airport in Freeland was looking kinda shabby. Not anymore.
FREELAND --
A gleaming new $50-million teminal is ready for business. A ribbon cutting, featuring dignitaries including Senator Debbie Stabenow, is slated for today.

It's been 6 years or meetings, deadlines, drawings and construction. The majority of the funding for the project came from the federal government.

The public is invited to tour the facility tomorrow.A peak inside shows a bright open terminal that compares to the one at Bishop Airport in Flint. But in shades of green and earth tones. It's all on one floor, so the new terminal does not have stairs, escalators or elevators.

It will open for passenger travel next Wednesday.
