Fireworks are now legal for purchase in Michigan.
FLINT TOWNSHIP -- Michigan residents will no longer have to travel across state lines to legally purchase fireworks.
On January 1, a law went into effect that lifted a ban on some very popular fireworks.
On May 26, fireworks officially went on sale througout the state and rougly 500 certificates have been granted thus far to businesses seeking to sell.
Business throughout the Michigan area are embracing the new law and taking advantage. Sellers must be inspected, undergo a background check and show proof of $10 million in liability insurance.
Time will tell on how much this new law will help boost Michigan's economy.
