She starts on Wednesday
It's another exciting week for newly elected State Representitive Pam Faris. She was sworn into office last week in Genesee Township. On Wednesday, the Clio area Democrat heads to the State Capitol for her first day on the job.
The wife of former Lt. Governor John Cherry says her prioritiy will be working families. She told NBC 25 Today she'll focus on education. She called the result of the approval of Right to Work legislation is an assault on unions.
Faris is a former Trustee of Mott Community College. She narrowly defeated Shorty Gleason in the fall. Her district includes Clio, Vienna Township and other sections of northern Genesee County.
After more than 40 years in politics, her husband John Cherry has perhaps the most recognizable name in area political circles. He's a former County Commissioner, former State Representitive and State Senator. Governor Jennifer Granholm tapped him to be her Lt. Governor.
Faris says Cherry's giving her advice as she heads to Lansing. But "I've also given him plenty advise over the years", she says.
