BAY CITY -- When Stacey Schwerin found out she was unable to donate a kidney to her 10-year-old daughter, Jessica, she took matters into her own hands.

She made a sign pleading with the public for help. It worked. Jessica is now two days away from her scheduled kidney transplant. Her kidney donor saw plea of a worried mother and wanted to help.

The Bay City community has also offered many helping hands. The Schwerin's say they are grateful for the continued support. Sula's Salon in Bay City is collecting cards and money for the Schwerins. Jessica's surgery and medical appointments are in Ann Arbor so travel costs have been a burden. The funds raised will help to offset those costs.

Cards and financial donations can be sent to:

Sula's Salon

810 North Euclid Avenue in Bay City.

Jessica's surgery is scheduled for Friday. In her own words, she can't wait to eat Spaghetti.
