MIDLAND -- We caught up with Rep. Dave Camp(R) 4th district. in Midland Friday.

He spoke at a chamber meeting about small business growth and development.

The congressman stressed the importance of spending cuts and tax reforms to help business and job growth.

"I think if we can get a simpler, fairer, flatter code, we'll see more jobs, but more than that higher wages as a result of that. The code's a real drag on the economy and we need to fix that," says Rep. Dave Camp(R) 4th district.

We asked Congressman Camp if he would consider running for Senator Levin's seat.

He declined comment.

Senator Carl Levin announced Thursday he would not seek re-election in 2014.

Levin was the fifth-most-senior Democrat remaining in the Senate.
