GRAND BLANC -- General Motors Corp. has announced they will be ceasing operations at the Grand Blanc Weld Tool Center .
According to GM spokesman,Tom Wickham, the management team notified employees at the facility that it will cease current operations and consolidate existing and future operations to other GM facilities in the second quarter of 2013.
In ceasing operations at the plant, GM will now have the opportunity to transfer current manufacturing processes and consolidate operations within other GM facilities. The move enables GM cut costs considerably.
When consolidation takes place later this year all GM employees at the Grand Blanc Weld Tool Center will be offered employment opportunities at other GM facilities.
The plant site is currently not for sale but future site options are being considered.
