Romney to speak the the Bavarian Inn Lodge Tuesday morning

FRANKENMUTH --

Considering a trip to 'Little Bavaria" to see the Republican nominee for President? The Mitt Romney campaign says it welcomes the public to see the former governor in Frankenmuth on Tuesday.

The tour is part of Romney's "Every Town Counts Tour" but the candidate was met with boos and chants of "Go Home Romney" in Newark, Ohio yesterday.  One Frankenmuth business owner says she hopes the welcome here is warmer. "I love Mitt Romney and I'm so excited he's here," says Karri Bouchard owner of Karri's Dollar World in Frankenmuth River Place.  "He's business oriented that's where he comes from he's gonna be so good for us local business people in the country, I'm excited," Karri says.

Judy Zehnder-Keller, from the Bavarian Inn Lodge says advance people from the Romney campaign were in over the weekend. Today they are building a stage, roping off areas, and erecting metal detectors.

Zehnder-Keller says the event will be held outside the Bavarian Inn Lodge. It's open to the public. There will be a private reception for a dozen or so VIP’s inside the lodge, as well. The gates will open at 8:30 AM. There is plenty of on-site parking.  One 2008 Obama voter we talked to says she is going to see the candidate on Tuesday, and is opened to what he has to say.  Jillian Handa who works in Frankenmuth but lives in Swartz Creek, says "he has some good views on things and it will be interesting to see if he's elected if they come to pass.

The program starts at 9:30. The event will include a choir, a local band, Governor Rick Snyder and Attorney General Bill Schuette.

It appears this isn’t Mitt Romney’s first trip to the Bavarian Inn. When Governor George Romney attended an event there with his wife Lenore, Mitt is shown in a picture. The Zehnder’s will give the picture to Mitt tomorrow. It’s from June 25, 1964. Almost 48 years later, Romney makes a return visit!
