FLINT -- A Flint high school was placed on lockdown this morning, following an emergency call about a gunman.  A 911 call claimed a person at Flint Northern High school was armed and making threats, prompting a lockdown as rumors circulated on social networking sites.  Police from several agencies searched the building and no weapons were found.

The lockdown was lifted shortly before 9:55 a.m.

School remained in session for the rest of the day, but some parents chose to pick their children up early.

"I really don't like the school for being like that,” sophomore Marquela Bryant said.  “This is the second time they did this for no reason."

All Genesee County schools were closed two days before the start of winter break in December, after rumors of gun violence at several area schools.

Flint school board member David Davenport said, “The schools are safe.  Flint schools are safe.  It's just that you can't stop anyone from making threats or making calls.”

Flint police will continue to investigate Thursday’s incident.
