OK, you're having people over the holidays and you're starting to freak out. What can you serve them that will look impressive and taste good, too? How about bruscetta?
It's fancy sounding but an easy to make appetizer they make at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth. In fact the chef there made it on NBC 25 Today and people raved about the taste. You can make it too. Here's the recipe. Later, see informtion on a special wine event coming up at the restaurant.
Blue Cheese, Mascarpone, Prosciutto, Pear and Arugula Bruschetta
4 oz. mascarpone cheese
¾ oz. blue cheese, crumbled
1 Tbs. maple syrup
Pinch white pepper
Combine the above ingredients together and set aside for later use.
Balsamic glaze
½ cup balsamic vinegar
2 Tbs. sugar, white
Bring to a simmer and cook until reduced and thickened
Ciabatta bread, toasted cut into bite sized pieces
Walnuts, toasted and chopped coarsely
Prosciutto, cut and rolled
Arugula leaves, washed
Pear, cut into wedges soaked in lemon water
Assembly:
Toasted ciabatta
Mascarpone cheese mixture
Walnuts
Pear
Prosciutto
Arugula
Balsamic glaze
