The Flint Northwestern Navy Junior ROTC showed off their skills to Navy commanders on Tuesday.
Since the beginning of the school year, the high school students have been planning for the day.
Commander George Clifford inspected and rated each student in front of their family, friends and teachers.
"The primary thing we're teaching them is to be good citizens. We do that through getting them involved in the community. They do 400-800 hours of community service a year anything from helping with the Crim, the food bank and marching in parades. That's the ultimate goal," said Commander Michael Robinson, the NJROTC instructor at Flint Northwestern.
This is one of only 5 NJROTC programs in the state.
