SAGINAW -- It's an annual event that all leads up to a big game between two schools battling for bragging rights.
It's the Battle of the Valleys and the week of fundraising kicks off today for students at SVSU and rival Grand Valley State University.
But it's more than a fun rivalry. Students say it's about giving back.
"We realize we didn't get here on our own we had a lot of help growing up from volunteers family friends, mentors teachers and those of us that played sports our coaches and now it's time for us to pay it forward and for us to give back to the next generation so that's what we're kind of doing here," says student association president, Ted Goodman.
The tenth annual battle of the valleys runs November 4-10.
The funds raised will go to the Great Lakes Bay Miracle League.
