LAPEER COUNTY -- A 43-year-old man has been convicted of a brutal murder in Lapeer County that occurred back in 2006.
Frank Choate was found guilty on all charges including felony murder, first degree home invasion, numerous weapons charges and obstruction of justice.
The verdict came down at the Lapeer County Courthouse just after 9 a.m. Friday morning.
Warren, 86, was killed in October of 2006. Her body was found in a field about five miles from her home. Her fingers were cut off.
Choate was charged in July 2011 with breaking into Warren's home and was arraigned on a felony charge in September.
He is being held in the Lapeer County Jail.
Marie Warren's daughter, Janet Brace, says she never thought this day would come.
"From beginning to end it's been a nightmare in some ways the nighmare will never go away because she was viciously, brutally murdered and you always wonder what her last moments on this earth were like. I'll never know that, so that never goes away," says Brace.
His sentencing date is scheduled for January 14.
