HOWELL (AP) -- More than 150 members of the Michigan Army National Guard based in Howell will be welcomed back after a year supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

WHMI-FM reports that the 1462nd Transportation Company members are scheduled to arrive Sunday afternoon at Highlander Way Middle School in Howell for a homecoming ceremony.

Their charter buses will be escorted to the school. The public is expected to gather at 2:30 p.m. Sunday along Michigan and Grand River avenues near Howell High School and wave American flags as part of the welcome.

The soldiers were deployed in December 2011 to Kuwait and Afghanistan.

The 1462nd Transportation Company originally was called to active duty in December 2003 and was sent to Iraq.
