CLIO -- People are pitching in to give area children a Merry Christmas. It's all part of the fill the truck effort partnering the Salvation Army and five Walmarts in Genesee County.

Patrons are encouraged to select items listed for needy children and then donate them to make a child's Christmas bright.

"It comes from the heart. I have always wanted to do it and i got all my co-workers in on it. And so with more kids with hard times and everything, it comes from the heart,” said bus driver Laura Dawson.

Around three-thousand people will be served by the Salvation Army with food, clothing and toys this holiday season.
