MUNDY TOWNSHIP -- Several towing companies from across Genesee County responded to the multi-vehicle pileup on US-23 in Mundy Township Thursday afternoon.

The biggest challenge, tow truck drivers said, was navigating the accident scene where multiple police and fire departments and ambulances were also responding.

“Mass chaos,” Donald Fee described.  His company, US 23 Auto Care & Towing, towed four of the 33 vehicles involved in the chain reaction crash.

“Emergency vehicles everywhere, tow trucks everywhere.  Of course the expressway is backed up, so it's difficult for us to get to the scene of the accident to try to clean it up quickly so that the flow of traffic can resume.”

No serious injuries were reported in the pileup.
