HARTFORD (AP) -- Four women from the same church who were out for a meal are dead after their car crashed into two vehicles on an icy road in southwestern Michigan.

The Van Buren County sheriff's office says the crash occurred Saturday night, near Hartford.

The four victims were returning from a dinner trip to Indiana.

Their Buick Lucerne was traveling south when it was struck by an eastbound van that couldn't stop. The Lucerne then spun directly into the path of a pickup truck.

The women were members of Keeler Baptist Church, 40 miles west of Kalamazoo. One of the victims, 56-year-old Kathryn Maya, was the wife of the pastor.

The others were 67-year-old Celeste Phillips, 56-year-old Lou Ann Holcomb and 51-year-old Charlotte Sieber, all from Hartford.
