GENESEE COUNTY -- New figures released this week show high school graduation rates dipped and drop-out rates inched up last year in Genesee County.

Beecher had the highest dropout rate at nearly twenty percent.

Flint's classical academy, an admissions-based school, had the lowest rate with zero dropouts.

GISD officials say the figures shouldn't undermine the progress being made.

Officials tell us educators are focusing on keeping students engaged and maintaining teacher-student relationships especially for middle school students entering high school.
