BAY CITY -- Cue the babgpipes. Strike up the Irish music. The 59th annual Bay City St. Patrick's Day parade is ready to roll. It starts on Sunday at 2 pm at Center and Park. New this year, a family tent before and after the parade at Wenona Park. Also new this year, candy will be distributed during the parade. As is tradition, there will be a special Mass, a flag raising and an Irish Ball. Bay City really goes all out for St. Patrick's Day: the whole city gets into it. I recall interviewing fomer Michigan Attrorney General Frank Kelley at the event one year. He told me, next to the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade, it's always the best parade in the state.
