A caravan of emergency vehicles and first responsers are taking to the roads Saturday, January 5 beginning at 8a.m. to benefit and honor the victims of the Dec. 14 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The memorial ride is being organized by the owner/president of Arrowhead Police Emergency Vehicle Equipment, Steve Major.

Plastered to each emergency vehicle will be the names of the victims.

Major says he hopes the event will raise money but also give local communities the chance to grieve following the tragic shooting.

The memorial ride will begin at the Michigan Welcome Center at I-75 and continue north to Sault Sainte Marie. Major says the group is also working to pay for a memorial that will be sent to the school.

Thursday, Sandy Hook elementary School students headed back to school for the first time since the shooting. They will be attending a school in nearby town, Monroe.
