Heart disease is the number one killer of women which is why year after year the American Heart Association raises awareness and promotes healthy living.

It's all part of the "Go Red for Women" campaign.

February is Heart awareness month and many events are taking place over the course of the next couple weeks to prevent more women from being a victim of heart disease.

Thursday, January 31 the American Heart Association is hosting the first-annual Red Dress Dash at 5p.m. Throw on a red dress and help raise awareness!

February 1 is "Wear Red Day." Thousands of people will wear red to support the cause.

For a list of all events head to GoRedForWomen.org.
