Watch the video to see how you can burn calories while doing every day tasks.
If you can't afford a gym membership and you can't get there very often, there are some simple things you do to keep burning calories.
Just become more active in everything you do.
You may not think of your daily routines as part of an effective weight loss plan, but think again.
"This is where our body is moving around, we're getting up out of our chair, we're sitting up straight, our shoulders are back, we're lifting water bottles at home. We might be standing on the phone, but we're walking around, we are not sedentary, and that's the most important thing," said family physician Dr. Jane Sadler.
Sadler said the more you move, the less likely you are to store fat.
It's a medically-proven theory called non-exercise activity thermogenesis, or neat.
"Some studies show that neat can actually burn up to 350 calories a day, even more, and that's just people moving around a little bit more, using their arms in conversations, fidgeting," Sadler said.
Sherri sharp says extra work around the house helps keep her slim.
"You don't feel like you're going that far but just the trips all through the house, up and down," said Sharp.
So take the stairs more.
Or while sitting at your desk, lift water bottles.
And if you're naturally jittery, you may have an advantage.
Other ideas include using a hand whisk instead of an electric mixer, walking your dog, and using a push mower to cut your grass.
