GENESEE COUNTY -- Friday is National Weatherization Day. NBC25 sat down with local leaders to see what this means for the community.
As the temperatures begin to drop and prices of energy rise it often becomes difficult to keep up on all the bills, that's why the Genesee County Card program is working to get people's homes weatherized to save money on energy this coming winter.
"A lot of people in our community are struggling on whether to eat or pay heat. so, if we can save them on heat, that puts food on the table," Matt Purcell, with the Genesee County Card program.
Friday a celebration for Weatherization Day will take place at the Genesee County Card building on North Saginaw from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
