President Barack Obama has asked airports to remain on high alert in the aftermath of a botched attempt to blow up an airliner on Christmas Day at Detroit Metro.
As a result airlines and airports are implementing new security restrictions. Here is what you can expect if you are traveling.
Airport managers at both Bishop and MBS International Airports say passengers will see more security and may face longer lines at checkpoints at airports across the country. It is recommended you allow 15-30 extra minutes for domestic flights.
International travelers will experience even more restrictions. The TSA says passengers may be asked to remain in their seats with all belongings stowed during the final portion of some flights.
The TSA says explosive detection canine teams, extra law enforcement officers, gate screening, behavior detection and other measures both seen and unseen may be put to work at certain airports. Passengers should not expect to see the same thing at every airport.
