A local bakery business is expanding and investing in MidMichigan.

Aunt Millie's bread is well-known in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky.

Because of its success, it's adding space to fill the need.

When asked what makes Aunt Millie's products so good, general sales manager Tom Cartmell says, "The product and the people."

It's a simple strategy that's no secret.

Proudly made in Michigan, Aunt Millie's bread, buns, rolls, muffins, and bagels are known for affordable, good tasting, healthy products.

The retail stores are known for quality customer service.

Because of increased demand, the company has outgrown its Burton location.

The newest location is in Genesee County's Richfield Township on M-15, south of Richfield Road.

The 11,000 square foot facility will feature a retail area, offices, and shipping docks.

The plan is to get moved in by this weekend with the possibility of opening next week.

Cartmell says, "We have 50 employees out of here, and all are very excited about the new location."

Company officials say, the Burton location is up for sale but will remain open as long as it owns the building.

The company has also purchased property near the Fashion Square Mall in Saginaw Township to build a distribution center and a store.

Aunt Millie's has bakeries in Coldwater, Jackson, Kalamazoo, and Plymouth Michigan.

Its products can be purchased at Kroger, Meijer, Sam's Club, VG's, and Walmart.

Aunt Millie's is a community partner as well. It donated 3,600 loaves of bread to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan this holiday season.

It donated 57,000 loaves of bread throughout the midwest in December.
