(AP) -- A probation violation hearing is scheduled in Wayne County Circuit Court for ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Wednesday morning's hearing is before Judge David Groner. Michigan Department of Corrections officials claim Kilpatrick violated his probation by failing to make a full $79,011 restitution payment by Feb. 19. Kilpatrick was arraigned earlier this month and released on bond.
He agreed to pay the city $1 million in restitution as part of pleas in two criminal cases. Monthly payments are based on 30 percent of his income. Groner ordered the Feb. 19 payment after a previous hearing showed Kilpatrick had not been truthful about his finances. But a
Kilpatrick spokesman says prosecutors' efforts to increase the monthly payments are "based on rumors and innuendo."
