Corrine Baker in court Tuesday.

GENESEE CO. -- Corrine Baker, the mother of four year old Dominick Calhoun who was beaten to death in April, will undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Baker stood tearfully before Genesee County District Judge Conover Tuesday as her Defense Attorney, Erwin Meiers III, stated she suffered from post traumatic stress disorder, depression, and anxiety. Meyers claims these psychological conditions are results of beatings Baker endured from her boyfriend, 24 year old Brandon Hayes. Meyers says Baker has been placed on several medications to deal with these medical issues, and therefore may not be competent to stand trial in the death of her four year old child. Meyers also believes Baker is a victim of the abuse crimes, and was thus unable to protect Dominick Calhoun from Hayes' beatings.
Judge Conover agreed to the psychiatric evaluation. Last month, Brandon Hayes was also ordered to undergo forensic evaluation.
Hayes is charged with first degree murder and child abuse. Baker faces second degree murder and child abuse charges.
Both Baker and Hayes are scheduled to return to court June 8, 2010 following their psychiatric examinations.
