Shelter managers transformed an unused room into a nursery earlier this year. Their goal was to keep cat families with tiny kittens away from the stressful mass population of cats at the shelter. The room allowed the kittens extra play-space and prevented them from catching any illnesses. Kittens have weaker immune systems than most grown cats.
Chief Genesee County Animal Control Officer Stepheni Lazar says shelter workers have played with the kittens everyday and are extremely attached to them. They want to find them loving forever homes soon.
The mom and dad cats of the kittens were dropped off by a family that no longer had the means to care for them. The cats are extremely attached to each other and become stressed when separated. The shelter is hoping to find a family to take both of these very friendly and playful adult cats in.
