Mt. Morris Township -- Two men have been arrested for allegedly breaking into the Home Depot on Pierson Road and stealing money from a safe.
Mt. Morris Township Police pulled over two men in a suspicious vehicle at 4:40 a.m. today near Kelly and Linden roads.
Meanwhile, central dispatch was putting out an alarm call from the Home Depot. An employee arrived at the store and notiedc someone had attempted to pry open the front doors. An alarm had also been set off inside the store.
Officers discovered that the suspects disabled the alarm and had smashed the rear door of the business. Once inside, the suspects damaged cameras and forced their way into a safe, stealing an undisclosed amount of money.
A police K-9 unit then began a track which led to the north into the woods where the suspects were believed to be performing surveillance on the store. Evidence was recovered at the location.
Another track found evidence of where the suspects were parked and it led police to the car that was pulled over near Kelly and Linden roads.
The Michigan State Crime Lab was called to assist. The suspects are in custody and the investigation will continue.
