ANN ARBOR (AP) -- Health officials are trying to determine what caused 37 women to become sick at a University of Michigan sorority house in Ann Arbor.

The Detroit Free Press reports Monday that the Washtenaw County Public Health Department is looking into whether a norovirus was behind Saturday night's illnesses at the Delta Delta Delta house.

Ann Arbor assistant fire chief Greg Hollingsworth said women at the house had eaten together and later reported nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Three were hospitalized.

Officials want to know what the woman ate leading up to the weekend's illnesses.

County Environmental Health supervisor Kristen Schweighoefer said the sorority shared meals.

A norovirus can be spread by eating food handled by someone who is sick.
