You may have said it wouldn't happen this year, but it did for many.
They didn't get their Christmas shopping done early, so now they're out battling the crowds for those last-minute Christmas gifts.
The toy aisles at the Tittabawassee Road Meijer in Saginaw County's Kochville Township are lined with parents getting those last-minute gifts.
Clothing and shoes are also big sellers as the clock ticks closer to Christmas.
Some say there's no bonus points for getting their shopping done early so why not wait?
Derrick Mushatt from Saginaw was out shopping Friday afternoon. "It's a lot more hectic when you go early. It's easy to go right now," says Mushatt. He says his procrastination paid off. He got a good parking spot and found everything his kids wanted. "I got my son a couple toy guns, my daughter likes to cook and stuff, so I got her a cooking thing."
Others loath going out this late in the Christmas crunch.
Isaac Mazique from Lawrence, Mich., says last-minute shopping is not an annual tradition.
"No, no, no, definitely not. Why would you want to go out shopping in a madhouse? I do it casually, not like Black Friday, I do it casually. Pick up a few things here and there."
It's surprising to see what the majority of items being sold are. You may think it would be toys, but it's food for Christmas dinner.
Meijer says its deep discounts and extended hours make last-minute shopping more of a blessing than a burden.
The Kochville Township Meijer store director Jim Grove says, "We have to take care of our customers and do what they need to have a great holiday season."
Meijer is open until 7 o'clock Friday. It will be closed Christmas Day. It will reopen at 6am Sunday for those who want to return or exchange gifts or cash in on the post-holiday sales.
