SAGINAW CO. -- January is National Radon Action Month. That’s why the Saginaw County Department of Public Health is giving away free kits.
The Department reports, “radon is a tasteless, odorless, colorless, radioactive gas found in almost any kind of soil and rock. It travels through the ground and enters buildings through cracks and openings in the foundation floor or walls, including floor / wall joints, sump openings, and other penetrations caused by plumbing, wiring, or ductwork.” The health department says long exposure can cause lung cancer.
The free radon test kits will be given out until January 31st at the following locations:

VILLAGE OF BIRCH RUN
BIRCH TUN TWP OFFICE
BRIDGEPORT TWP OFFICE
RICHLAND TWP OFFICE
TAYMOUTH TWP OFFICE
