A Saginaw Valley State University spokesperson says police detained eight students after a brawl broke out during a high school basketball game between Arthur Hill and Saginaw High Saturday night.

NBC25 cameras were rolling as police tried to break up the brawl.

This is the second time in less than a month that a fight broke out in the crowd during a boys’ basketball game between these teams.

Head Coach Lou Dawkins says he hopes folks don’t judge the schools by this incident.  He says the people starting these fights aren’t even students.

Three students were suspended after the fight January 5th.   Two others who were not students were arrested.

No one was arrested after Saturday night’s fight, but of the eight detained only one is known to be a Saginaw Public Schools student at this time.

No word yet on whether anyone involved will face criminal charges.

Authorities say fortunately no one was injured.
