LANSING -- Update: March 16th 12:20 p.m.

More than 1,000 people are outside the Lansing State Capital, protesting Governor Rick Snyder's budget proposal.  NBC25's Dan Armstrong followed two groups from Mid-Michigan to the rally, and will have the latest details on NBC25 News at 6:00 p.m.

In the meantime, leave us your thoughts on the budget proposal here or on our NBC25 Facebook page.

Original Post:

Protesters that were quietly gathered in a public area of the Capitol left without incident shortly after 6 p.m., about half an hour after the building was scheduled to close. That was after Capitol managers and police asked them to leave. Some protesters remained outside the building.

Protestors have begun to file into the State Capitol Building in Lansing.  A live video stream of the protest can be viewed here, on filmmaker and Michigan native Michael Moore's website.

Live video of the sit-in protest came into the NBC25 Newsroom around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
