The huge success of the 2011 Warrior Dash will be returning to Genesee County in 2012.

Race officials made that announcement Sunday.

Thousands climbed ropes, jumped fire, and rolled in the mud in Genesee Township over the weekend.

More than 24,000 people took part in the Warrior Dash at the E.M. Cummings Center at Genesee County Parks.

It's a 5K race that puts its participants through all kinds of challenges.

Some of the 12 obstacles included a cargo climb and jumping over fire all to a muddy and exhausting finish line.

Race director Michael Coco says, "We like to get people out to have a good time while being active, enjoying themselves, and exerting themselves physically."

Most of the participants finished the race in about an hour.
