Update: August 8th

The Washington Post  reports the suspect shot his girlfriend, brother, and nearby neighbors.  Police then arrived on the scene, and two more people were shot, and was killed during a police shootout.

The victims' names are being withheld at this time.

A news conference is planned for Monday afternoon to discuss the tragedy.

Police say a family argument ended in the shooting deaths of eight people in two locations including an 11-year-old.

It happened in Copley Township outside of Akron, Ohio, Sunday.

The police chief says one person shot five people to death at one location, then two more were killed nearby before police killed the shooter.

Authorities are not releasing details of how the people were related or what the argument was about.
