A new study shows your child’s lunch could be deadly if it’s not kept at the correct temperature.

The Today Show  reports a new study showed that nine out of ten sack lunches weren’t safe to eat.  Dr. Nancy Snyderman, author of the book, “So We Eat,” says over 700 preschool children’s lunches were examined to reach these findings.

Dr. Snyderman reported on the Today Show that when foods get warm, bacteria can grow, and children can become easily sickened by food poisoning.

Mayonnaise, cheeses, yogurt and other milk products are particularly easily contaminated.

In order to keep cold foods at the right temperature, kids need more than one icepack in their lunch box.

Dr. Snyderman suggested packing dried foods, and other items that don’t need to be refrigerated.
