Michigan's attorney general praises a recent ruling that says forcing people to carry insurance is unconstitutional.
Michigan joins 25 states in a lawsuit to block the measure.
It looks like there will be another political fight.
While Washington argues about laws, many residents here in MidMichigan are just looking for a way to get to the doctor.
The battle over healthcare is a long way from Saginaw resident Brian Weems. He's doing better than most. He has medical insurance through the city, but he does not have dental or eye insurance. He sees the fight over President Obama's national healthcare as political mudslinging.
"They don't want him to be re-elected. Canada got a healthcare program that works fine, and we need one too," says Weems.
However, his 20 year old neighbor Martin Goodson isn't fairing as well. "I don't have any," says Goodson.
With no health insurance at all offered through his part time job, Goodson says he's living on a prayer each week, hoping he doesn't get sick.
"Just to make sure that nothing unexpected does happen. Just to try to be aware of everything because you can't afford to slip up," says Goodson.
It's a familiar story. Fewer full time jobs mean fewer people have health insurance. The president wants everyone covered, but many American's don't like the government getting into private lives.
NBC25 talked to Ann Heinz in Birch Run who says, "I don't think anybody should be telling us what kind of healthcare we should be getting. It should just be an option."
So far, a panel of judges agree.
For now, it'll be back to square one for the Obama administration, Yvonne Khazouz just moved to the states from Jordan. She says Americans should take whatever the government is willing to offer.
NBC25 Facebook fans have been sounding off on this topic. Here's a look at a couple of the responses:
