More is being learned about the death of a Wing Walker who fell while attempting an aerial stunt at the Selfridge Air Show last month.
The Associated Press says the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) believes Todd Green may have tried to jump from a plane to a helicopter too soon. The report says Green tried to grab a helicopter’s skid, but missed and fell about 200 feet. Green landed about 1,500 feet away from where the crowd had gathered to watch the stunt.
The 48-year-old Ann Arbor man was rushed to the hospital, but didn’t survive.
The Selfridge Air Show says Green successfully made the jump the day before the show.
"The entire Selfridge family joins together in mourning the death of Mr. Green. Our hearts reach out to those who are impacted by this tragedy, including his family, friends and our many visitors who witnessed this tragic event," said Col. Michael Thomas, 127th Wing commander at Selfridge on the Selfridge Air Show Facebook Page. "As Airmen, we understand the inherent risks associated with flight, but we aviators are a close-knit family, and when a tragedy like this occurs we all share in the loss."
