SVSU spokesperson says lack of state aid hurting colleges

KOCHVILLE TOWNSHIP -- According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the number of people graduating college in Michigan has remained flat in recent years.

Saginaw Valley State University spokesperson J.J. Boehm says the reason is obvious: "Michigan is one of only three states over the last five years to spend less in real dollars on public higher education than it did five years ago".

Families are also having to pay more for their children to go to college.

SVSU has the lowest tution of any public university in Michigan, at less than $8,000 per year.
