Airtran Airlines to charge overweight passengers more

Beginning March 1, 2011, over-weight airline passengers will have to pay more to ride on an Airtran Airways.

NBC News reports the airline will start considering "customers of size.” If a person is too large to fit in one seat, and begins encroaching on another person’s seat, the airline will start asking larger customers to purchase two seats. 

Airtran, which was acquired by Southwest Airlines earlier this year, says it will refund the cost of additional seating if the flight does not oversell. 

The airline will have more details on how this will impact customers on their website.
