NBC25 was the first to inform Governor Rick Snyder about the shake-up within Flint City Hall Friday night.

The governor was in Frankenmuth to honor military veterans and servicemen and women at the Bavarian Inn.

"The budget deficit is very large and the cash situation is not good," said Gov. Snyder.

The state is waiting to see if Flint will appeal the panel's decision to recommend an Emegency Financial Manager for the troubled city.

"How do we get city government to get on a basis where it can be self-sustaining," said Gov. Snyder, who could place Flint in receivership in a matter of days.

Gov. Snyder quickly pointed out that his top priority will be improving public safety in Flint.

If an EFM is appointed, and all signs are pointing to that being the case, the financial manager will have 45 days to come up with a reworked budget for the city.
