DETROIT (AP) -- The National Traffic Safety Administration is looking into potential transmission problems with thousands of General Motors vehicles.
The Associated Press reports the initial investigation began with the Saturn Auro 2007 and 2008 models and affected about 89,000 vehicles. However, now that probe has grown to other GM cars including the 2004-2008 models of the Malibu and the 2005-2008 models of the Pontiac G6.
The NTSA tells the AP that in some cases, the floor shift lever might not match the vehicle’s gear, meaning that a driver could shift into park, but the transmission could be in drive or reverse.
According to the AP, there have been seven crash reports and at least one injury from this potentially deadly problem.
