Season's first winter storm has some still in the dark

Up to 8" fell in parts of mid-Michigan,downing power lines

The final totals are in on the season's first winter storm. 

While some areas of the thumb received very little snow, others got more than 6". 

Auburn in Bay County reported 8" from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning and was the hardest hit area. 

Some other totals:

Midland: 6.6"

Freeland: 6.5"

Saginaw: 6"

Linden 4.2"

Bad Axe: 3.8"

Bay City - 6"

Flint: 3.7"

As of 4:00 a.m. Thursday Consumers Energy estimated about 1,200 are without power in Genesee County and about 300 are still in the dark in Saginaw County. 

Power is expected to be restored to Genesee County residents around noon Thursday. However, for some areas such as Saginaw, Branch, Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, and Calhoun counties, the power could be off until 8:00 p.m. Thursday,

The Saginaw County Sheriff's Department reported 92 car accidents between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
