In this economy, everybody's a budget expert.

"Staying at home a lot more, and just watching my budget,” Justin Blaska described how he’s cut back lately.

"We don't go out as much, try to cut down on expenditures,” explained Mark Jamino of Saginaw.

Jim Sweeney of Birch Run expects from the governor to run the state like most Mid-Michigan families, saying, "I'd rather see him stop spending money, and start paying back some of the debt.”

Gov. Rick Snyder is expected to address how he'll spend a $457 million surplus.

"Right answer isn't just to go spend money,” Snyder said in a video he posted to YouTube.  “I often like to ask people, if I ask you for five dollars, would you just give it to me?  No, you'd say what are you going to spend it on?"

Attorney General Bill Schuette wants the funds to ramp up the state's police force, while others want to restore education funding.

Some say it's a sign the state's on the right track.

"We've got an excess; it's the first time in years we've got an excess.  And I think that's a good thing, and if we've got to cut a few things here and there, then, hey, everybody's got make sacrifices,” Justin Blaska said.

A live streamed presentation will start at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at www.facebook.com/rickformichigan.

Questions about the budget can be submitted at www.michigan.gov/townhall, or posted on Twitter @OneToughNerd using #AskGovSnyder.
