Nineteen-year-old Wanda Musk was raped and murdered
GENESEE TOWNSHIP -- A Michigan law requiring inmates to submit to DNA testing has helped identify a suspect in the 1993 murder of Mott College student Wanda Musk.
Wanda was last seen leaving the One-Stop Food Store on November 14, 1993, after working the third shift there.
Her naked body was found along Vassar Road an hour later.
She had been beaten and raped.
"So much of her life was ahead of her that she could have had," said Ron Mast, Wanda's uncle who helped raise her after her father passed away.
Police have not identified the suspect, because official charges have yet to be filed.
The suspect is currently in prison on a separate murder conviction.
The Michigan law, which went into effect in 2011, makes it mandatory for all Michigan inmates to submit to DNA testing.
